Miswak, also known as siwak or sewak, is a teeth-cleaning twig commonly made from the Salvadora persica tree, also known as the toothbrush tree. It has been used for oral hygiene for thousands of years in the Middle East, South Asia, and other regions. In Islamic tradition, the use of Miswak is considered a Sunnah (tradition) of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and is said to bring numerous physical and spiritual benefits. Miswak is still used by many people today as an alternative to modern toothbrushes and toothpaste.
